Six ES6 students from St George’s College Quilmes got certified diplomas from Google, as part of the Google Innovation for Students programme. They were María Santina Scaminaci, Delfina Medinaceli and Molly Lennard, who achieved the Google Ads Professional Certification, Ignacio Camps and Giovanna Nicolino, who obtained their Google Europe and IAB Digital Marketing Professional Certification, and Tomás Van Leeuwen, who completed both.

To achieve these certifications, the students had to participate in courses and take exams. All while fulfilling their school obligations. While the Digital Marketing programme required the completion of 28 micro-modules with questions after each section, the Google Ads programme consisted of six different courses, with a comprehensive multiple-choice exam at the end of each one.

Tomás decided to do these programmes because he felt they were “a great opportunity” offered by the school, and “a start towards developing professional skills in digital marketing and its different aspects”. Santina was attracted by the “new educational and job opportunities” that come with Google Ads certification, while Ignacio saw the possibility of acquiring skills and a professional diploma that validates knowledge in Digital Marketing.

“At St George’s College we expect each of our students to achieve academic excellence, and that means not only fulfilling their subjects and curricular spaces, but also exploring new horizons,” remarked Belén Carreira, coordinator of Educational Technology. In this sense, these extracurricular programmes allow students to develop their passions for service, new technologies and to understand some of the logic of the jobs of the future.

Despite the challenge, all expressed their satisfaction and happiness at having taken advantage of the opportunity. “It required a lot of self-demand, but I was able to show independence and responsibility by completing the courses,” summarised Santina, summing up the challenge they all had to go through to achieve the certifications. Furthermore, Tomás reflected that “in the future, this knowledge can be very useful in the digitalised and changing world we live in”. Congratulations to everyone for their efforts!
