In the 2022 IB examinations the Quilmes site averaged 32 points, a record for the school and for the first time in its history exceeding the international average, placing St George’s amongst the very best schools in the world. In total 16 pupils achieved over 35 points which is the benchmark for the world’s best universities and colleges. And 4 of those achieved a score above 40 points: Victoria Laight, Camila Jara, Elvira Cobreros y Fransico Dantas. This places them in the top 10% of pupils globally and is an amazing achievement.

The Quilmes Headmaster, James Diver, said he feels `incredibly proud´ of these students and pointed out their hard work is without a doubt the number one factor that led to these amazing results.

Over the past year St George´s has been focused on raising academic standards and expectations. To this end, a new system was introduced with the aim of pushing the children to do better than ever before. Providing an environment for them to do their best, evaluating them correctly and rigorously, letting them know what they are doing right and what they are doing wrong. And most importantly helping them to improve in the future. Reflecting on the IB results `This shows what can be achieved with commitment and hard work and why having high expectations is so important for the pupils. These results are not only a validation of what we were doing, they are also a key indicator that in the future we can do even better, which is incredibly exciting and important for the school´, reflected James.

However, `This has been a challenge for everyone and we didn’t always get things right´. As a result, the school has evaluated its own performance and acted upon what it learned last year. Making improvements and developing an even more effective system to help students improve their performance this year.

`While all the time demonstrating a firm belief in our guiding principle that every child has the ability to learn to be successful and achieve excellence. Therefore it is our expectation that they do´, he added.

Congratulations to the Camada 2022 for this extraordinary achievement!
