Our school is one of the very few in Latin America which is authorized for this excellent programme. The International Award is available at the three levels of Bronze, Silver and Gold and although the programme is optional, every year we have considerable numbers of students completing each of the levels. The programme has four components, which apply with increasing complexity at each of the three levels:

Service

Students take part in community service projects and work to sustain our environment.

Adventurous Journey

The journey aims to encourage a spirit of adventure and discovery whilst undertaking a journey in a group. In St George’s, our students go on mountain expeditions to such places as Bariloche and at Gold Level this includes a residential project with CEAL in the Chilean Andes.

Skills

Enables participants to develop their talents, broaden their abilities, increase their self-confidence and improve their employability.

Physical Recreation

Encourages young people to improve their fitness and performance, and enjoy healthy lifestyles for good mental and physical well-being.

We find that the International Award provides very big benefits for our students. It helps them to focus on their personal development, encourages self- responsibility and promotes such important values as helping others and teamwork.
