Founders’ Day was a fantastic day, with attendance very impressive indeed. It started with a beautiful commemoration service, in which the choir, led by the indefatigable Mrs Susan Perkins, sung beautifully and all the head prefects, junior and senior, read superbly. In addition, as ever, we were treated to excellent addresses by the Chairman of our Executive, Alejandro Flores, Archbishop Gregory Venables and Padre Ignacio Ramos Mejía. After that the fun really began- highlights included some very innovative, highly competitive (amongst parents at least) and thoroughly enjoyable Inter-House games. As ever the asado, cake stall and international mothers’ food stall were highlights on the food front and the S6 smoothies definitely went down well. Music continued to be a theme throughout the day, with the South American Piping Association leading the way in spectacular form. The band, Funk You, were particularly, well, funky and the more middle aged members of the community, especially, enjoyed listening to the old classics that were beat out, song after song. Add in the sports fixtures between the students and Old Georgians, all very competitive but narrowly won by the Old Georgians, the science building being turned into a spine tingling haunted house and the most generous tombola ever, alongside endless stalls, presentations and just the great fun of the community getting together; there was something for everyone.
